14 August 2019 Quarter Final victory and Super Shot, 9 shots on one end
Vice Captain David Boxford led his team to a well deserved victory at Lancaster Avenue on Wednesday evening to ensure a place in Semi Final of the knock Out competition run by Luton and District League. One of the top three Clubs in the competition will be our opponents. Highlight of the evening was a nice shots on one end achievement called a Super Shot, a rare occasion seen only once before in Club history. We are hoping for a Certificate from World Bowls in recognition. Team, Skip Roger Slaney, Berny Perry at No 2, and lead David Boxford. Photo to follow.
17 August Memorial Trophy
The Memorial Trophy Triples trophy was reduced to a pairs event due to the numbers and was won by Roger Slaney and Paul Denton. Webmaster Paul won the same competition 9 years ago with Pat Gordon and Edna Sheppard, and then later with Harold Keech and Pat Gordon.
18 August 2019 President’s Day
Twenty entries this year so we played pairs with rinks and position drawn from the hat.
On each game of 5 ends one end was marked as a bonus double score which made the competition more interesting. Winner was Malcolm Beeney with a massive 39 points, with newcomer Peter Webster coming second and Pat Moore third. There was the usual prize for the lowest score but I have forgotten who that was. Photos on later pages including two taken in the Clubhouse.
21 August 2019 HOT SHOT
Monday Night Triples Competition v West End. Nine shots on one end and it put Lancaster Avenue into the semi final and since to the Final after beating Barton in the Semi’s. Two wonderful achievements and for only the second time for both.
HOT SHOTS Roger Slaney, Bernie Perry and David Boxford. (Photo to some)
